New Life Church has developed an ongoing partnership with a church in the Dominican Republic. We have sent 7 teams to this island nation, and are planning to send another team July 14-22, 2018.

Along with NLC people, some of the teams have also included people from Faith Community Church in West Concord, as well as other churches. Teams are composed of adults and older teens.

The teams serve alongside a church in the city of Hato Mayor. Primera Igelsia Bautista (First Baptist Church) has a strong ministry and sponsors about 10 smaller mission churches in the region. Our teams have led VBS, done construction, conducted neighborhood evangelism, led special children’s programs, participated in church services, led youth discipleship, and provided training seminars for both the central church and the smaller satellite churches. Our last team was focused on youth discipleship, construction of a home for the pastor, and missions engagement.

The leader of Primera Iglesia Bautista, Pastor Amos Caceres, and his family spent a week with the people of New Life Church in 2010. Despite the language barrier, those who have been to the DR feel a special kinship with Pastor Amos and Rosa and the people they serve. Adela Van Dyke, an American missionary who serves in Hato Mayor, has been a huge help to our teams. You can read her latest missions update here.

The mission teams from New Life provide encouragement and practical help for the believers in the Dominican Republic. But team members also find their own commitment to Christ challenged in a significant way. The experience of serving the Lord cross-culturally has had a big impact on those who have served in the DR.

If you are interested in being part of the team going to the Dominican Republic the summer of 2018, you can download an application and submit it to the church office. Contact Pastor Pat if you have questions about being on the team.
