Here is a preview of  some of the items in this week’s New Life Notations. If you want to receive them via our weekly email list, please contact the church office.

This Sunday’s Sermon:  Exodus 23:20-33   “On Our Side”

The Flaas will be hosting an English camp for children in Thailand this spring. Our Sunday school offerings will go to supporting this effort. The elders also would like to send a team of 3 or 4 adults to go to help with the camp. Tentative dates are April 23-27. This would involve raising support. Please see Roger Hanson or Lisa Nelson for more info.      Pastor Pat

A prayer assembly will be held here at NLC this Friday, January 19, at 12 noon. Please join us. (You may bring a sack lunch if you like.)

Annual Meeting
Mark your calendars for Sunday, January 28th, as we gather for the  church’s annual business meeting.  It will be held immediately following our morning worship.
We greatly value your input on the different items we will be discussing and encourage everyone to attend - even if you are not a voting member.  Some of the things we will be discussing and voting on include:
• The 2018 annual budget
• Hiring Peter Shea as pastor-in-training
• Updates from ministry areas
• Church officers (Elders, Facilities, etc.)
• Members (new & updates)
Copies of voting ballot and proposed budget are available at the information table in the foyer.  Please take one to review.
and Potluck Dinner
After the business meeting, stay for a potluck dinner!  Please bring a main dish and a side dish or salad.  (Desserts will be provided.)
Thank you to Roger’s Sunday School class for serving as our dinner hosts!

Ministry & Committee Leaders  - We would like to hear brief updates from you at the annual meeting.  Please contact the church office if you plan to bring a report.

Football fans, the big game is in 3 weeks. Have you considered making it an event for reaching out or connecting with neighbors? Several organizations in the Twin Cities are seeking volunteers to help with street evangelism during Super Bowl week. Contact the church office for more info. Another idea is to host a Super Bowl party in your home and invite neighbors you’ve been praying for. It’s a good opportunity for building bridges.

Youth Mission Team
The youth mission team will be in Becker, MN working with Teen Serve on June 24-30. Please pick up an application and return it as soon as possible. If you have questions about TeenServe, speak with leaders Scott Molby or Roberta Callahan.

D R Mission Team - 2018
July 14-22, a mission team from NLC will be in the Dominican Republic. Adults and older youth are invited to apply to be part of this life-changing experience! We will be in Hato Mayor, a city of about 90,000, working with Primera Iglesia Bautista (1st Baptist Church), which is led by Pastor Amos. Our ministry is yet to be determined, but could involve youth discipleship, children’s’ ministry, construction, evangelism, etc. The church will provide us with dormitory-style lodging and the evening meal. You will grow spiritually as you serve the Lord beyond your comfort zone, and as you bond with other team members and Dominican believers. Pick up an application form in the foyer, or print it from the church website. Please apply soon!

The leadership also says a big THANK YOU for your faithful regular General Fund giving which supports the ministry of our church as well as our missionaries.

Copies of the 2018 bible reading plan from Discipleship Journal and the Refuge guide for the Gospel of John are available on the information table in the foyer.  Make 2018 a year of growing ever deeper in your love for God and His Word!  (More reading plans are also available on our NLC website’s Resources page.)

If you would like offering envelopes for your giving in 2018, please see Sharon Hanson or contact Lisa in the church office.  If you have some envelopes left from this year you may continue to use them, disregarding the date.

Thank you to all who purchased gifts, made donations, and delivered gifts for Angel Tree children!  The extra cashed received was used to purchase a Bible for each child.  Continue to pray for these children and their families!
